Baobab Oil
Baobab
oil is not an essential, or
volatile oil. Since it is a
"fixed" oil, it will not burn
when used neat on the skin. As
it is so rich and nourishing,
baobab oil can used in small
percentages in creams, lotions,
body butters and other skin care
formulations. Baobab oil is
easily and quickly absorbed by
the skin, leaves no oiliness or
greasiness, and serves as well
for intensive hair care. Baobab
oil does more than just
moisturize skin; the rich,
golden oil also helps to improve
skin elasticity, encourages
regeneration of skin cells and
does not clog the pores. It is
also said to alleviate pain from
burns and regenerates the
epithelial tissues in a short
time, thereby improving skin
tone and elasticity. The oil
contains vitamins A, D, E and F.
Vitamins A and F (a
polyunsaturated fatty acid) are
actively involved in the
rejuvenation and renewal of cell
membranes, while vitamin E is a
superior antioxidant, which
helps to fight aging. With its
omega 3, 6 and 9 content, the
oil is helpful in treating
eczema and psoriasis.
Marula
Oil
Rich in anti-oxidants
and oleic acid, and
extremely stable, marula
oil is one of Africa’s
finest skin care oils.
It is an excellent
choice for inclusion in
formulations for dry
skin, as its high
content of palmitic acid
creates a protective
coating on the skin
surface. Marula oil
absorbs quickly,
hydrates the skin, heals
skin tissue, reduces
redness, reduces
trans-epidermal water
loss, increases skin
smoothness, and
conditions hair.
Mongongo Oil
The mongongo nuts are
cold-pressed, without
use of solvents or other
chemicals. The extracted
oil, with its hydrating,
skin regenerating, and
restructuring
properties, is used in a
range of skin and beauty
products, including
creams, lotions, sun
care products, lip
balms, massage oil, and
body butter formulations
at 5-10%. Mongongo oil
is used by the !Kung
bushmen of the Kalahari
to cleanse and
moisturize their skin,
and protect it against
the harsh desert
environment. Because of
its eleostearic acid
content, mongongo nut
oil makes a superb
shampoo and conditioner
ingredient, as it forms
a layer over hair fibers
that protects against
adverse environments.
Ximenia Oil
Ximenia oil is a very
effective hair oil, rich
conditioner and skin
softener. Chapped skin
is often soothed by
massaging ximenia oil
into the affected area.
It is particularly
popular as a massage
treatment for dry and
chapped skin. The oil is
excellent as an
ingredient in
moisturizing and
anti-ageing skin care
products, in lip balms,
for use with dry,
fragile, and damaged
hair, in soaps, and in
anti-acne products.
Lemon Tea Tree
Essential Oil
Rose Geranium Essential Oil
Lemon tea tree essential
oil is purported to
improve digestion, aid
meditation, and help
open sinus and breathing
passages. The oil blends
well with many other
oils allowing for many
applications, such as in
soaps, lotions, or
massage oil to name a
few. It should be used
sparingly in blends, so
not to overpower other
aromas. Lemon tea tree
oil is considered the
ultimate natural
mosquito repellent and
is potent enough to use
in small dilutions (2%).
The oil is wonderful,
when added to household
cleaners, for
controlling obnoxious
scents. Please note:
Combining lemon
essential oil with tea
tree oil does not result
in lemon tea tree oil.

smell with a mint
overtone. It is watery
in viscosity and mostly

a slight light green
